Thanks! I always loved the idea of a wolfdog as John's dæmon.

I love how you manage to drop these characters into such an inherently alternate reality and yet still be so in character. Moments like this:

A wolf dæmon would have been interesting. But a wolfdog was fascinating.

And I've read several HDM crossovers now, but the more you delve into it the more I think you got it right with John as wolfdog.

Thanks! I always adored the idea of John's dæmon being a wolfdog - it just seems to suit him so much!

This was absolutely lovely. I've never read HDM, but if the source is anywhere near as good as this is, I'll have to put it on my shopping list!

I found this story a day after you posted the second chapter. Since then I have been checking your journal for updates almost every day (in the beginning even more than once a day). Finally, finally, I can't express how happy you have made me :-D. Love this story and already I'm gleefully anticipating the moment Sherlock finds out that John knows Mummy.

Thanks! A lot of people have expressed their eagerness for when John reveals he was friends with Aeliana - I seem to have created suspense without quite meaning to!

Another great chapter! A little too much back and forth, but its fun reading each of there's impression of the other.

Really fun and can't wait for the next one!

This is fantastic. It's got so much texture, and the changes in the universe to accommodate the daemons are really well done. The choice of the daemons for each character is also amazing. I can't wait for the next installment.
Thanks so much for posting it.

Thanks! I've had a lot of fun writing the dæmons :D

omg, this isn't the end right? *looks*

I am watching the hell out of this series, it's just fantastic. Definitely looking forward to what's next, particularly whenever it comes out that John knows Sherlock's mother. Possibly my favorite thing chapter is how baffled Sherlock is by Raniel's behavior, and how hilariously incapable he is of connecting that to his own feelings toward John.

Another excellent chapter. :)

Maybe it's because I really, really need to go get some sleep, but I just don't understand the end of this sentence...>
It hadn't been a particularly involved conversation, just the sort of overtures strange dæmons made to each other all the time, and Sherlock was quite sure neither John nor Amarisa knew how unusual it was for Raniel to be making them to another dæmon.
***to be making them to another daemon (this bit specifically)***

ps. forgot to add, that my favorite bits in this part where both duos wondering if they'd be rejected by the other and the amusing (well to me anyway) bit at the end with Sherlock's compendium, specifically getting Amarisa to pose and commenting on her teeth. It just tickles my funny bone for some reason.

I love His Dark Materials crossovers, but this one especially! The idea about people with hybrids or mythical daemons is really interesting.

One quibble: "wolves" are one species, though according to Wikipedia, there are a few related (extinct) species that are named "something wolf"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canis

Thanks!

And while it's true that 'wolf' is one species - Canis lupus - there are many, many suspecies. Eurasian wolf (Canis lupus lupus), Arabian wolf (Canis lupus arabs), Arctic wolf (Canis lupus arctos)...the list goes on, and there are more than twenty different subpsecies.

My, such large teeth you have! LOL I am completely in love with Raniel and Amarisa.

I absolutely adore this fic.
I love how seamlessly this story flows between the two worlds, and your retelling of the episodes is done perfectly. You pay attention to just the right details, adding a depth we couldn't get in the series.
I love the deamons you picked for the characters, especially John's wolfdog. I was dubious at first, but Amarisa really does suit him. You also did your research; I skimmed the internet a bit and you do bring forward actual facts about the species.
Being a seamless blend of research, well paced and layered plot, wonderful characterization and excellent prose, this story is an example of true genius. It's a gem!

I suspect I spotted a typo though:
John half-expected him to blanch at the site of Amarisa's teeth.
I think site should be sight, but as a non-native speaker I can't be certain.

Thanks for catching that! I wavered between a wolf and a large breed of dog for John, when I realised that a wolfdog just suited him so much more...

this fic is awesome!
i like how their daemon interacted and like each other.. well.. sherlock's deamon adore John Deamon more! lol
I really am loving this pic, its put my misery away.. -_- stomach still aches.. but i'm better.
thanks for sharing this fic!

This is fabulous! The process of Sherlock and Raniel identifying Amarisa–too-blunt questioning to intense research to total accepantance and demands for tea–is just perfect.

Thanks! I could never seen either Sherlock or Raniel being particularly fussed about the wolfdog thing - well, apart from being intensely curious about it, of course.

Oh God, this made me so happy :D

Amarisa and John have such an interesting relation! And Raniel! When he saw Amarisa's teeth!

I really, really loved this chapter! I love their interactions! And Sherlock in John's room?? Sherlock, sherlock, Sherlock! :D
