I enjoyed the fic as a whole and especially liked how you handled the ending, with love and optimism but realism as well.

I've been following this from the beginning. It's an absolutely wonderful piece of writing; dark, painful (god, just so painful to read at times), but beautiful and hopeful at the same time. You've done a fantastic job with the characters. And I loved that you keep true to the realism right through to the end, no magical healing cock or sudden "happy" ending. Stunningly good :-)

Thank you so much for writing this.

Thanks! I tried to keep it semi-realistic and have it end, if not on a precisely happy note, than at least an optimistic one.

I saw this rec'd in the sherlockbbc comm & have spent the better part of 4hours, looong past my bedtime absolutely engrossed. I've never read anything quite like this in any fandom..rape, yes, but not handled with so much care and wrapped in such beautiful writing. And so in character. Thank you for taking the time to write something so long and lovingly crafted. I can't wait to see what you write next!

Thanks! I'm so pleased you thought they were in-character - that's what worried me the most (especially Sherlock, he can be hard to get a handle on).

Also...I have a rec? *sparkly eyes*

Although I confess that I want more, that's purely because I've been enjoying this series a lot. However, I do believe that this is the perfect ending, that promise that John WILL get better, and Sherlock will be there all the way.

Thank you so much for this story.

Thanks! I wanted to end it realistically - no magic fix-its, or the like - but still optimistically.

I've just read through this whole fic without stopping, and it is utterly painful, but incredibly honest and affecting. I normally shy away from non-con, but you have treated the whole situation with such respect that it was really compelling. Excellent writing and characterisation helped too!

I am so impressed.

I Love You.

Excellent characterizations, the emotions so well captured I could feel Sherlock anger and John's pain throughout the whole thing, beautiful story flow, and even without a beta, so few errors in the beginning it was hardly noticeable.

You are simply superb!<3

Thanks! I'm glad you think I got the characterisations down - that was the part that really worried me.

Wonderfully written and handle with sensitivity. I really appreciate the way you ended the story with such restraint.

Thanks! I was trying for a realistic yet still optimistic ending.

Absolutely amazing, all of it and I do hope there's a sequel. Well done.

Thanks! And there's no plans for a sequel yet, but we'll see how things go...

I literally could not stop reading this fic. I started reading it in a particularly weird kind of mood and I wasn't expecting anything this good. I just knew I had to stick with it.

The most important thing about this story was that it rang true. I've been there, I'm still there sometimes, and it would have set me off in a huge way if John hadn't gone through the exact same hell. It hurt, it will hurt for a very long time and, I know I'm getting crazy personal here, but having John articulate and dismantle his fears reminds me that I can do that, too.

Thank you.

Posting as myself because the shame is my rapist's, not mine.

I originally started this just as sort of an exercise in writing, to see if I could turn out at least a semi-realistic story that still had a (relatively) happy ending, and I've been blown away by the number of people who've told me how much this story touched them. I was, essentially, trying to avoid the awful cliches you see in some of these fics and not screw it up too badly - I certainly wasn't expecting anywhere near the response I've recieved.

I think my fav part would have to be Sherlock proclaiming love in a tone that implied 'duh' and 'worthy of scientific study'. XD At least he professed in character! Beautiful story, I really enjoyed it, and I can't wait to read more of your HDM stuff too!!!

Thanks! I've just got back from holiday, so there should be some more fic soon!

This story was, simply, amazing. It was like a punch to the gut for a lot of it - visceral and painful - but that actually made it all the better. This was very believable, and very touching. And, the bit of hope at the end was wonderful.

Thanks! I'm a sucker for the happy ending, and after all I'd put them through, I thought they deserved a bit of optimism.

I really enjoyed this and though I would love to see a sequel, you ended it at a good spot.

Thanks for writing! :)

Thanks! And I don't think I'll ever write a sequel, but we'll see how things go...

My expression throughout the first chapters was mostly D:
As I continued to read it morphed into ): and then something like this ):) and then :) and then at the end here :D

I don't quite know what else to say. It's a really well written story. Moriarty is exceptionally creepy D:
Lestrade, Sally, Mycroft and Cassiopeia (lol) are great.
John is still a BAMF and always will be and Sherlock is kind of really cute in this story, except when he's being a BAMF himself :)

And I like that you ended it where you did. It ends on an optimistic note, which is great. However, Moriarty is still running around, but I'm sure either Mycroft catches him or Sherlock. Although, actually, I think I'd prefer Mycroft to catch him and do something Mycroft-y to him, like quietly make him disappear. Or something cooler. :)

Thanks! I wrote this prompt because it was something I could see Moriarty doing, and I wanted to do a semi-realistic story about how both John and Sherlock would deal with it.
