I just burned through this entire fic in one sitting -- it took me six hours. Agonizing to realize it's not done, and thrilling to know there's more to come! I love the way you've melded the universes together, so much, and it's just gorgeous all around. Can't wait to see more!

Do you have an AO3 account I can follow? :)

Thanks! And sorry, but there's no AO3 account - just livejournal!

I can't believe it took me this long to realize you had updated! This fics had become one of my new favorites...love love love the insight into John's and Sherlock's characters and the plot development has me on tippy toes. Thanks for posting!

Oh my.....
I had never read HDM, so I put off reading this. What a mistake! This story is thoroughly intriguing, and making me itch to get my hands on the original trilogy.

Would you mind terribly if I friended you to keep tabs on this WIP?

I tried to write it so that HDM knowledge wasn't actually required to enjoy the story, and I'm glad I succeeded!

Also, feel free to friend me :D

This is fantastic! I'm not particularly conversant with this version of the Sherlock Holmes fandom, but honestly, the way you tell the story makes it so that I don't need to be. I love the callbacks to the His Dark Materials canon as well-- the Asriel Process, the mention of Lyra as the girl who could effortlessly read the alethiometer, and all the other little bits and pieces. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for updates on this.

Thanks! I tried to write it in such a way that you didn't particularly need in-depth knowledge of either fandom to enjoy this :D

I just found this fic this morning and THANK GOODNESS I DID, it was a bright star to my dismal day!

Love, love, love this. The characterization, the developing relationship, JOHN. I love this John -- this is the side of John I wish BBC!Holmes had seen more of, before Moriarty got his hands on him.

A lovely chapter, and I definitely itch to continue reading! ♥

Thanks! I must admit, I'm having great fun writing John and Amarisa - they're so badass together!

brilliant!

really, this is fantastic! cannot wait to see some more! and you are killing me by stopping in here, now i would have to wonder more and more till next chapter update! LOVE this story so much, absolutely awesome!

I just discovered this story, and read it in one gulp, and I AM IN LOVE. It's fantastic and intriguing and I cannot wait for more. John and Amarisa are lovely and dangerous, and Sherlock and Raniel are fascinating and interesting, and the four of them together are epically adorable. I love how you treat the daemons as entities in their own right, while also making clear their roles as, effectively, their human's soul (or...something similar).

The plot is great and I can't wait to see where everything is going. I admit I'd also really like to see Sherlock and Raniel interact with John and Amarisa's family in some way, if only to highlight the stark differences in their home lives. And also because my Id would dearly love to see Sherlock verbally eviscerate the Watsons for their treatment of John.

I've enjoyed this a lot, and I hope you intend to continue!

Thanks! I'm having so much fun writing the dæmons!

Eee, more, more, more! Edge of my seat with this.

There'll be more from this universe soon!

I've just spent the last few hours happily immersed in this, and it is so compelling!

I know the premise but not the details of the HDM stuff, but I was able to enjoy it thoroughly anyway.

Thanks! I tried to write it so that HDM knowledge wasn't needed to enoy the story.

I just finished reading everything that's been written so far (took quite some time) and I'm overwhelmed by how amazing this is. I've only read The Golden Compass, but you pack enough details into the story that it doesn't really matter that I've only read the single book.

You've put the characters into a different world and kept them who they are from their core to the outside. That's impressive.

Anyways, I loved the whole thing. :D

Will be friending you so I don't miss the next part.

Thanks! I tried not to make background knowledge of HDM necessary to enjoy the story :D

I know I'm a bit late to this particular party, but I was rereading everything because of the new update and was struck by your delightful details all over again. There are a few that thrill me in every chapter, especially the throwbacks to Lyra and the books, but the tiny tidbit I still love most in this chapter is this:

“Where is John and Amarisa?” Raniel asked...

I am in love with this, this referring to human-and-daemon with the singular "is" instead of "are." As amazing and tantalizing as your longer descriptions of this universe are, and as obvious as it should be with alethiometers and daemons running around, it's really the subtler details like this quirk of speech that bring home that it's an entirely different world.

Thanks! I was wondering if anything would notice the way humans and dæmons are often referred to as single entities...

This story really is amazing! I have the HDM books since ages in my shelf and now I really have to read them.
And what exactly did "Another HDM fic" mean? Do you have another one?

Thanks! And no, I don't have another HDM fic, though I have written two (at last count) side-stories to this one. It was more a comment on the fact that there have been a lot of Sherlock/HDM crossovers.

Fantastic! I had a sneaky suspicion John was going to be able to read it perfectly. The plot thickens hmmm. Can't wait for the next update =)

I tried to drop hints that John would be able to read the alethiometer :D

Just read this whole thing (chap 1-12) WOW - I could not stop(well except for sleep and stuff XD)

I've never read anything from HDM and I didn't feel lost at all. I kinda want to read one of the books after reading this. I love how you wrote John and Sherlock (and everybody) and capture their voices so well.

Looking forward to more ;-)

Thanks! I was trying to write it so that background knowledge of HDM wasn't required to enjoy the story.
