Part Twelve: The Reader

I haven't commented before, for which I apologise, but this story is a thousand shades of brilliance. The interactions between dæmon and human as well as between John and Sherlock are beautiful.

Being a bit of a linguist, I felt I had to comment on Amarisa's name. How did you decide to put it together? From the French 'âme' meaning soul, or 'ama' from the Italian meaning he/she loves? And then 'risa'... well, I couldn't find a perfect root, but I did wonder if you'd intended to create a word which sounds a little bit like "soulrise". Okay, I might have put a little too much thought into this but hey! It's a beautiful name.

Anyway, I look forward to more. Thank you for writing this wonderful fic.

Thanks! I love writing this story - dæmons give another facet to just about every kind of interaction which is a lot of fun to explore.

As for Amarisa's name...dæmon names are so unusual that I confess I use a fantasy name generator and then pick the best ones. 'Amarisa' just sounded nice to me.

Nooo! I've got into another of your WIPs! You are really flushing my 'Never read a wip' rule down the loo! ;-)
I adore this story and I'm amazed at the depth of character you've put into the daemons. Can't wait for the next bit.

Is there any amount of pleading or encouragement I can offer to magically conjure a new chapter? This is my favorite Sherlock crossover of all and one of my top 5 overall, and I cannot wait to see where you take it!!!

I cannot say enough that you have created something wonderful here. I love Amarisa and Raniel completely, and through them I think you've truly gotten something amazing in both John and Sherlock in a way that isn't often brought to light. And I adore your world-building as well as your mixing the events of Sherlock into this AU - it reads so interestingly, both as a new story and as a retelling. But now we're into unknown territory and I am BURSTING with wanting to see where this goes!

I have read every word of this story at least 10 times now, and I will probably read it another 10 every time you post something new. Yes, I'm just that crazy! But your writing is just that GOOD!

Thanks! I love writing Amarisa and Raniel - they put such an interesting spin on things.

Oh no... I thought this fic was complete when I started it! On one hand I'm happy because it means there is more of this glorious story to come, on the other, I'm devestated because I can't have it all NOW!

Absolutely LOVING it. I was a bit wary at first because I've not read HDM and only had a working knowledge of the whole daemon thing - but you made it completely clear for people new to that universe.

Also... I've read a lot of fic in my time but I've never seen such an *intimate* relationship portrayed.

Thank you so much and I genuinely can't wait for more!

Thanks! Glad you understood what was going on - I tried to write it in such a way that background knowledge of HDM wasn't required.

And I love, love, love that you pegged their relationship as intimate. Because that's exactly how I see it.

This story is, "OMG AMAZING". Please update.
Immediately.
...NOW...
*stares*

...Thank you.

:D

I found this story yesterday, and you had me hooked right away - I love it!!! The way you're weaving these worlds together is amazing.

So, just to let you know, I'm one more person who can't wait for the next update ^_^

This is such an amazing story. I can't wait to see where you're planning on taking it next!

I love this amazing crossover you've created, so intricate and exciting.

I didn't actually like Sherlock when I saw the pilot. After being rec'd your story and devouring it (!), I went and re-watched the mini-series, and really, really enjoyed it. I can't wait for it to return. This is entirely due to your story: your characterizations, world-building, and the lovely relationship you slowly build between Sherlock and John. It probably didn't hurt that I was watching the mini-series with the daemons trailing after the actors in my mind's eye!

Really, I think that most things in life can be improved by the addition of witches, daemons, and armoured bears!

I love how the world-building elements from 'His Dark Materials' are playing a greater and greater role in this intriguing plot you've meshed seamlessly with the major plot arc in the mini-series. I can't wait to see how it all plays out; and of course, to get more of Sherlock, John, Raniel and Amarisa. :)

Thanks! I feel very flattered that my story motivated you to re-watch the series :D

Wow, wow, wow!!!!one!!! So usually at this point I would be really upset learning I'd gotten this far into something just to see it's a WIP. I'm so into it and usually I would feel a little lost and heartbroken. But I am so relieved this is ongoing for two reasons. A) I'm really not ready for this to end. B) I started reading at 4 PM yesterday. I took a break to eat and shower. I then read until 2:40 in the morning and then thought, "What are you doing? You have to be up at 6 for work." I turned off the computer but had a really hard time falling asleep because I was thinking about this. It took two cups of coffee to wake me up and three more to get me through work. I came home and have been reading for three more hours.

So thank god it's not any longer because I need to sleep tonight and I wouldn't have. Somehow adding HDM to any awesome fandom just makes it better. I read one that was NCIS a while back and it was awesome but not as awesome-tastic as this. You have all the history of HDM, it’s most certainly that world and yet somehow, it's completely and totally Sherlock. There is no part that isn’t well thought out and cohesive. It’s all so perfect. And the amount of detail you put in to thinking about the daemons. They’re perfect and I love that Raniel and Amarisa are so perfectly suited to their humans and each other. It’s just perfect because it’s seamless.

Do you have any idea when you might be updating? No pressure, I’ll tide myself over by reading everything else of yours and see what other people have written that HDM/SBBC. But, honestly, I can’t wait for more! Thank you so much for this lovely story.

Thanks! My beta originally had the idea of including the whole HDM universe and not just the dæmons, and my muse just took that idea and ran with it.

Just read this over on ff.net when I saw a link to it from someone's tumblr.

I am completely in awe of how you've perfectly tangled the Sherlock-world with the HDM world. And I think you utilize the dæmon's perfectly. They are the embodiment of everything unspoken between Sherlock and John, or at least what I read from them while watching the series, and having Risa and Raniel able to express those emotions, but still have maintained that tension between Sherlock and John was beautiful (and so happy that John and Sherlock are finally on the same, coupley page now). I'm so excited to see what's in store, I'm sure you'll handle it all beautifully.

Thanks! And I love writing Raniel and Amarisa - they lend all these interesting new facets to Sherlock and John's interactions.

*sigh* This is so so lovely.

You've ruined me for anyone else

My dear, I'm enjoying your series so very much and find the boys and their daemons so in character. But now I've gone to read a story by another author and I'm thinking "yes fine, but what about their daemon... oh".

!!!

Ruined me, I tell you. So I sincerely hope you keep writing in this universe since no one else will apparently do for me, after you.

Re: You've ruined me for anyone else

Muahahaha! My clever plan to take over the universe with fanfic is working :D

The prophecy is about John and Sherlock!!! It makes all the sense, they are a team! And now that I think about it, it was the events caused by the witches that made John to meet Sherlock... They were the one who started the prophecy.

In this last scene, Sherlock turned off the light... It was perfect to show how he's changing because of John and Amarisa :D
