I do love this story... the universe and the characters and the plot. The developing relationship between Sherlock and John is wonderful.

I was surprised that John wasn't asked to have a go at reading the alethiometer but then I recalled his threat about testing with random devices. I wonder if Mycroft was hoping that John would volunteer without prompting if he saw it.

Thanks! But I'm remaining mute as to John's specific role in the prophecy...

Wow!!!! Just lovely to find this updated. Can't wait for more.

So excited to have an update! I can't believe I didn't see that the prophecy referred to the two of them- I was thinking maybe they'd got it wrong, that it was for Sherlock, but its so clear now! Very interesting update. Also love how you work the book cannon into your story- especially the reference to Iorek <3 The guillotine plotline kind of scares me. Intercission was the most terrifying part of the books (because can't you almost feel what that would be like?) and to think of the device in the hands of Moriarty... *shivers* Also, I have to wonder if maybe John would be able to read the Alethiometer?

Can't wait for the next update!

Thanks! I like dropping in references to the original books (though I'm sure everyone's figured that out by now...)

And I firmly believe that incident with the guillotine was the most unnerving sequence in any of the books. And the idea of Moriarty with one of those is rightly terrifying...

But I'm staying mute on the topic of John.

*happy dance of update time*

I love this story so. The way you wove HDM canon in as history to this story is splendid, and the use of intercision in concentration camps is chillingly plausible. *shiver*

You clarify the prophecy a bit by suggesting that it's about both John and Sherlock, but there are still so many unanswered questions. It's so deliciously plotty! Then there are moments of Sherlock and John making out in the backseat of a car, and that's pretty delicious as well. ;)

Thanks! And given the kind of experiments the Nazi scientists DID conduct, intercision was probably just one more thing they were curious about...

I did this giddy dance of joy when I saw you updated. Your WIPs make my world :D

I sort of figured that the prophecy referred to the both of them. I'm glad John is so warmly accepted in the family, and how comfortable with affection both John and Sherlock are! Their daemons "making out" in front of the in-laws was hilarious :D

Thanks! And yes, a few people caught that I was implying both John AND Sherlock with the prophecy...

I was so excited to see you'd updated! This story continues to be wonderful. Great characterizations and good pacing.

Excellent worldbuilding as usual. The idea of the Nazis using intercision in concentration camps makes perfect sense, chilling as it is. Also, I like that the Holmes family analyzes alethiometer readings over the dinner table.

Thanks! I could just see Sherlock's family being like him, in that 'investigation of interesting problem' comes second to food, you know?

Man, I love this series. I especially liked the world building in this, not to mention the continuity with the books. It takes serious skill to pack in all that information without making it a boring info dump but instead something that feels as tense to the reader as it does to the characters.

Thanks! This was why the chapter took me so long - I was trying to convey a lot of information without it being boring.

Update, yay! \o/
I still love this story so very much. Still so lovely &hearts
Also: yesyesyes, Ragnvald! :D

Thanks! And I loved sneaking in that little bit about Ragnvald...

And now, I am going to read it. :D

whoo update!

I love the Holmes family moments here, especially Aeliana. I also love their entwined prophecy, though I imagine Sherlock's not pleased that Mycroft figured it out before he did.

As always, can't wait to see what comes next! :)

Thanks! And no, Sherlock is not pleased (why do you think he's so determined to uncover the Moriarty-Carl Powers connection before Mycroft does?)

“Don't discount the 'he's batshit crazy' theory,” Amarisa offered.
- of course, because she's John's soul, but I adore the matter of fact way of Amarisa.

“That's exactly what I'm saying. In fact, I believe it refers to both John and Sherlock.”
-The whole prophecy thing must be so much fun to think up because it's certainly been fun to read and try to guess about.

A squirmy feeling of semi-embarrassment crawled up John's chest (their dæmons were all-but making out in front of Sherlock's parents!) and he hoped he wasn't blushing.
-Seriously I feel like I'm just going to be quoting everything now.

I admit I tend to make Amarisa much blunter than John. And yes, I certainly did have a lot of fun with the prophecy...

You have just made my finals week all the more awesome! *squee* I couldn't wait for the next part, and while I have yet to read the book series *glares at the very, very large stack of books with "to read" along with twenty other "to --" stacks* I did catch the references made because...um...wiki.

Still, this is turning out awesome! The prophecy for two people works so well, and I'm just waiting for John to use the alethiometer. The intercision references were very creepy and the Holmes family, as well as John's part in it, is just too cute! I can't wait for the next part!

Thanks! And wiki is awesome when you want a quick summary of something - most of the scientific names I got from Wikipedia.
