Title: Semper Fidelis
Rating: Probably an R
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, and am making no profit from their use, more's the pity.
Warnings: Violence, sex, some torture in this chapter
Summary: Written for a kinkmeme prompt: Moriarty frames John and "Anthea" of betrayals which cause both of the Holmes brothers to cut them off. Cue BAMF!John and BAMF!"Anthea" doing their best to clear their names. Both het and slash; Mycroft/Anthea and John/Sherlock.

Brilliant as always...but why do I have this dreaded feeling that Moriarty isn't really dead?

Thanks. And Moriarty is most definitely dead, trust me - a broken neck is not something you walk off. There have been cases of people surviving a broken neck, but only when it was a straight break and the neck was held rigid - the twisting motion John made causes the spinal cord to sever completely and the heart/lungs to shut down.

Oh, you've left me all giggly and happy for them... As usual, I can't wait for the next bit - Mycroft and Sherlock have some SERIOUS sucking up to do! :oD

Yes, there is some serious grovelling in their future...

Honestly? My first reaction to John killing Morierty was..."Huh. Well, that was anti-climactic." Then I went on with my day. The fic, however, stayed to percolate in the back of my brain. It wasn't until later, when I was driving down the highway, that I realized what a perfect little moment that was. Of course John's plan would be extremely efficient. Of course John's plan would involve patience and endurance and waiting until everyone else was out of harm's way, no matter the cost to him, because, really, what's so important about him anyway. I think of your scene and how it compared to that moment in the pool and it drove home a hundred little differences between Sherlock and Watson. I really ended up liking it, for what that is worth. Excellent fic!

That's exactly the point - John killing someone is always going to be anti-climactic, because he doesn't bother with dramatics. If he decides someone needs to die, he just makes them dead, end of story.

Oh... my god. Oh. My. God.

I've already forgot how I came upon this fic thanks to the truckload of awesome that just hit my brain. By which I mean, I just read all seven chapters in one sitting and... goddamnit, I didn't know this was a WIP. My heart's beating 200 miles an hour and I'm setting up a fucking camp here until you update, you hear me?

I totally froze when John snapped Moriarty's neck. Then I rolled back a bit and reread it. Then again. And again. ... Just savouring the moment, you know? *grin*

Thanks! And I took perhaps an unhealthy amount of glee in writing John as the one to take care of Moriarty...

I finally got to read this part and it was too good for words. I love my BAMFJohn, and he took out Moriarty with finesse. Anthea/Rosie, continues to be amazing and lovely.
Then you have Avra, and she is the image of Judi Dench in Casino Royale, which I love because I wanted her to be Mummy, she just seems so right for that part. Such joy,

Thanks! I loved writing Anthea and John as kickass action heroes who essentially saved themselves.

Thanks! I love writing BAMF!John...

I love you I love you I love you I love you x INFINITY oh my God everything is rainbows and I'm now just waiting for John and Jane to smack the hell outta their idiots.

Thanks! And there is certainly some serious grovelling to come...

This is just...
I'm so incredibly relieved!
I think my adrenaline levels are all over the place, what a rush this chapter was! I was constantly on edge, being horrified at John's torture, worried about Jane trying to break out of that room, and then when she was on her way to rescue John the suspicious lack of guards seriously unsettled me and I was convinced it was a cruel trap by Moriarty and the building was about to explode the next moment (or some such thing. I blame Steven King). Goodness.
I'm also quite a bit ashamed that until halfway through this chapter I was waiting for Sherlock and Mycroft to heroically save their loves from Moriarty's clutches (I'm romantically inclined that way. Afterall, it's the least the Holmes brothers could do!) - when my brain finally caught up. *facepalms at own stupidity* Of course, John and Jane would walk out on their own power!
Are there actually even enough words to describe John and Jane's level of BAMFuckery?! I'm still gaping at the screen like a demented goldfish. John killed Moriarty! Just like that, snapped his neck. After he had endured two hours of torture and still been expecting to die in the end (God, poor John is epically tragic in this story! Breaks my heart in the nicest ways. Please, make it up to him in then end and have Sherlock love and cherish him?). Nguh! And clever, calculating Jane! What a breakout! And then she didn't try to save herself, but instead took a piece of metal for a weapon and went to get John! Nevertheless, despite being formidable BAMFs, John and Jane were still vulnerable (Jane's despair that they wouldn't be able to escape, or John's need for the protection of clothes after his torture, or their near hysteria, just to name a few instances), which I loved.
And then that last scene, finally outside Moriarty's lair - everything is just so right! So much is happening there, it's almost overwhelming. Relief, surprise, concern, pain, confusion. I had tears in my eyes and I'm dying for the next update!

That's the idea - that John and Anthea are such badass action heroes that they practically saved themselves. All they needed help with was the remainder of Moriarty's people, and that was more a numbers thing...

it is late night, everyone else is asleep. I read this with my hand over my mouth to keep from screaming with joy. John is the coolest MD in the world. when he just killed Moriarty so efficiently, it was great. then he and Anthea got out and started laughing, I admit I giggled behind my hand. The Holmes boys must grovel! A Lot.

Thanks! I loved writing John and Anthea as such badass action heroes they basically saved themselves...

Oh my god, I just devoured this fic! It kicks more ass than should be legal! (And John and Anthea do, of course, kick more ass than is legal.)
I can't wait to read the next part!

ok I have to ask cos this is killing me now, when are the next chaps of either fic coming? :: shuffles on knees, BEGGING ::

Random comment I don't think anyone's made yet

I keep thinking about how Mycroft is going to react to John now... I kinda get the impression that he doesn't really respect him that much, kind of like Anthea at the beginning of this story... but then he hears that John waits to attack Moriarty and lets himself be tortured to try to get her out safely... I have a feeling he won't be so dismissive anymore.

Re: Random comment I don't think anyone's made yet

I think the same of Mycroft - that he sees John's record on paper, and respects that, but doesn't realise just how badass he is.

OMG John is such a badass!!! This story is amazing!

This was just marvelous! What a great story and I'm very much looking forward to finding out how it ends. :-) I mentioned to you before that I usually don't read WIPs but I'm making an exception for your work--even if you never finish, it was an extremely satisfying read. Thank you very much and I hope the rest of your writing is going well.

Thanks! And don't worry - this story will definitely be finished! Real life's just been a bit crazy lately...
