God there were so many beautiful parts in this chapter. Sooooooooooooo many.

Brilliant update! Can't wait for more.

Teared up at the end, just so you know. Love resigned and seemingly unrequited. Harsh. Amarisa needs a hug! John needs a snoggin'. Sherlock needs a bit of a punch in the eye just for good measure.

Quick question, what was going on with the hostages' daemons? I would think that the easiest/cleaniest way to nab hostages and comply to terms would be to strap bombs to their daemons and lock 'em in a car nearby or something.

Just food for thought.

Definitely squealed and did a happy dance when I saw that you'd updated. I'm loving this story more than I can express. Can't WAIT to find out the meaning of the prophecy. And poor John/Risa at the end there...it hurt to watch it happen in the show but it hurts even worse here. And I'm so excited to see where you'll take the pool scene.

GAH. Love you work. Update soon!

Thanks! And the prophecy is just one of the various plot points that will carry this story past TGG...

This is fantastic! I did a jig of joy when I saw that there was an update. YAY. :D

Oh wonderful next chapter! Really really. SUPER looking forward to the next one though!!! Really loved the way you sped through things without being too fast.

Thanks! I'm trying to skin over the plotty details of the episode to focus on the John/Amarisa-Sherlock/Raniel interactions, you know?

I just shouted that, and had my roommate look at me with something the boarders amusement, fear and confusion. But, there are no words for how much i love everything about this story. I love the HDM verse you set it it, I love how the dæmons actually say things about their person. I love how you've both added too and chosen to stay true to the BBC verse, just. ASDFGHJK. There is nothing I don't love about this. Great, great, amazing job. The voices and characters of Amarisa and Raniel are so well defined as their own character and yet they FIT John and Sherlock so well. My mind. It is blown.

In short, you are wonderful, and I cannot wait for more!

Thanks! I really wanted the dæmons to feel like characters in their own right, yet extensions of their humans.

I'm starting to verge into angsty territory, aren't I?

Fascinating! This continues to be an absolutely riveting AU - I love it! All the little insights that are coming together through the daemons and their interactions with humans - so well thought out! Can't wait to see more!

Thanks! I love writing the dæmons - they add a whole new dimension to character interactions!

"At that, Amarisa’s tail finally wilted, dropping between her legs. "

OH GOD, I seriously could feel my throat closing up and tears forming in my eyes. That was the saddest sentence ever :-(

Have I mentioned lately that this fic is amazecakes? Everytime you update, the day suddenly brightens and things aren't quite as bad as I think. Then I cuddle up to this story, read it from the beginning AGAIN, and all is right with the world.

Thanks! I'm verging into angsty territory now, but it'll get better...eventually.

There are not words enough to describe how in love I am with your writing and this particular fic.

It takes a special hand to write AU and do so seamlessly and on top of that you've crafted this to the point where I, never having read or seen the movie for HDM/GC, have not once gotten lost in the plot.

In fact this story prompted me to watch the movie. Your fic is way better though. :D

Thanks! I was trying to write it in such a way that reading the novels/seeing the movie wasn't a requirement to enjoying the story.

Oh, John.

Ooh.. poor John and Amarisa...Sherlock and Raniel do care, really, I read it^^ brilliant chapter! STill love this story, and it is a lovely distraction from my exams^^ I'm looking forward to the confrontation with Moriarty, this is going to be good^^
Perfect Work! Love it!^^

Thanks! I'm looking forward to writing the pool scene (which kind of makes me feel bad, as it's not going to pleasant).

Wonderful. John's disappointment in Sherlock is so much more painful when seen in terms of sad!Amarisa.

I see you've mentioned in replies to other comments that you're in one of the flood-affected areas. I hope you and everyone you know are okay.

Thanks! And meand everyone I know are fine - we didn't lose much, and we've even got back in the house now with power and everything :D

LOVE. SO. MUCH. I just caught up on this in one go and AH, EPIC. I love the world building you've done, it's so thorough and intricate, and they way that you've merged details and events from each is fantastic (especially the alethiometer and Stanislaus particles). Brilliant and gorgeous and wonderful ♥

Thanks! I love weaving these universes together so much, it's almost unhealthy...

“Don't sell yourself short, John,” Raniel muttered, and Sherlock wished his dæmon would just shut up right now – Mycroft was looking smugger by the second.

I've reread this chapter a couple of times now, and that part right there makes me chuckle out loud every time. Raniel is so not subtle.

Poor John and Risa, though. They do sell themselves short, every time, and Sherlock could stand to take a page out of Raniel's book and call them on it.

I always know that Sherlock is being written well when I spend equal amounts of time wanting to hug him and kick him. And you write Sherlock very, very well. (John's still my favorite, though. John's always my favorite.)

Thank you for updating, and I hope that you and yours are doing alright despite the flooding.

Thanks! And yes, though I love Sherlock and the man is walking eye-candy, my heart belongs to John...

And me and mine are doing okay - we didn't lose much, and we're backin our house now with power and everything :D
